A Wonderful Wife

Genesis 2:18 - And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Proverbs 18:22 - Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

Proverbs 19:14 - House and riches are the inheritance of father: and prudent wife is from the Lord.

Proverbs 12:4a - A virtuous woman is crown to her husband

Proverbs 31:10 - Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

All of these verses and many more talk about wonderful, strong women, who love Jesus and their husbands. These are the characteristics of a good woman that makes a great wife.

Let's take a look at those words in Genesis, help meet.  In the original Hebrew the word meet means succor, Succor means one who helps in a difficult situation.

Now what is amazing to me is that when Eve was created from Adam, God used the words one who helps in a difficult situation.  There was no difficulty in the beginning. Everything was perfect.  They had everything they needed.  Food, clothing, shelter, wonderful weather, everything.  So why would God use these words.  He knew what was going to happen, and even though she was created in perfection, he was thinking of all of the future husbands that would need a help meet.

This is so amazing that he was thinking of us, even in our degenerated state, that he would create something so wonderful, and so splendid, as a wife.

Men, if you have a virtuous woman, as I have been blessed of God with, count your treasure, not your blessings, your treasure.  Your bountiful blessings.  Your riches in life.  Because God said that her price is far above rubies.  He created her her for us hardened, stubborn, self thinking men, to help us through one specific difficult situation; LIFE.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful, virtuous women out there, who love the Lord and who have chosen to submit yourselves to your husbands and be there help meet.

Heavenly Father, I come to you today in prayer, to think you for my wonderful wife.  You have provided me a treasure.  One which I cannot count or measure.  Her love for me keeps me going each day.  Her support of me gets me through stressful times.  And her love you reminds me that I cannot do everything myself, even when my stubborn man brain says that I can.  Thank you so much Dear Jesus for a virtuous woman, for a prudent wife.  For my help meet.  AMEN.

Thank God for your wives gentlemen, because if you have found one, you have found the favour of the Lord.
