Have You Had Your Fill of God

Proverbs 19:7-10

7.  The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8.  The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9.  The fear of the Lord is clean, ensuring forever: the judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10.  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

All of these things are sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.  The Lord gives us his word so that we can live a peacefully sweet life, but are we doing enough with it.  Do you have friends or family or know someone that is hungry for the Truth, hungry for the Word of God.

Proverbs also goes on to war in Chapter 27 and verse 7: The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

We have the things that are sweeter than honey:

The law of the Lord: We know that we cannot live by the law and once we realize that, we know that we need Christ and we accept His gift of salvation, so it converts our hearts. Once we have accepted His gift of salvation, His testimony (His Word, the Holy Bible) makes wise the simple. Our eyes are opened to new and wonderful things concerning the blessings of God and all that He has to offer to us. (Proverbs 19:7)

The statutes of the Lord are right rejoicing the heart. When we live by His Word and all that it contains we live a very simple, non-complicated and peaceful life. Once we understand this we know that his commandments serve to keep us free and keep our lives simple and easy and we are enlightened that what he has to say is very easy to follow and will keep our lives uncomplicated and simple. (Proverbs 19:8)

When we learn that his commandments are good for us and serve us then we learn to fear (respect) all that he has written and all that he has to say to our hearts. We learn that all of his judgements are true and righteous. In other words, when he has to punish us or others, we are the ones that are to blame. He is completely perfect. (Proverbs 19:9)

These things are more to be desired than gold and they are sweeter than honey. But are you sick of what the Lord has to say. Are you tired of your preacher or sunday school teacher, or your friend always having things to say that prick your heart.  Could be that you are not living (or exercising) your faith and you are so bloated with religion that you are sick of what the Word of God has to say to you.

Just like in real life, if we eat and eat and eat and we do not do anything, we get sick and tired of it. But when we exercise our bodies and our minds, we are refreshed and we appreciate the next meal.

The same thing applies spiritually. If you are not exercising your faith, be careful that you do not grow to loathe the honey and the honeycomb, because you become an ineffective Christian.

Proverbs 27:7 also states "but to the hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet."

Why do you think that cults like Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons and the others keep growing. Because there are hungry souls out there that need feeding.

You have all of that extra Word that is making you sick and you need to be "walking" spiritually and giving some of your excess to the spiritually "hungry".

Be careful that you do not grow to loathe the Word of God and the message of Christ.

Dear Lord, we come to you today, humbled by the wisdom of you Word and the warning that it has to bring. Help us to enjoy the sweetness of your Word continually by exercising outs faith and giving of our excess to those that are starving for the truth.
